"Quantum Man: Richard Feynman's Life in Science," by; Dr. Lawrence Krauss

Fact: Your body is comprised of matter from old stars.

Fact: The universe is expanding.

Fact: This week’s guest, Dr. Lawrence Krauss, is smart.

Dr. Krauss is an American Theoretical Physicist who is Professor of Physics, Foundation Professor of the School of Earth and Space Exploration and Director of the Origins Project at the Arizona State University.  He is the only physicist ever to have been awarded the highest awards of all three major US Physics Societies: the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics Teachers, and the American Institute of Physics. Dr. Krauss’ research covers numerous topics in the field of physics including the interface between elementary particle physics and cosmology, where his studies include the early universe, the nature of dark matter, general relativity and neutrino astrophysics. Now, I know a lot of this may just sound like mumbo-jumbo, but Dr. Krauss is able to break a lot of his research down so that the average podcast hosts can understand it.  We even had a chance to ask him if he believes in aliens, but you’ll have to listen to the episode to see what he thinks! He also has numerous extremely interesting lectures available on iTunes (our favorite, and his most popular, is shown below).

He is the author of several bestselling books, his most recent books is titled Quantum Man: Richard Feynman’s Life in Science.  You can click on the picture to the left to take a look at the book on Amazon.

  1. Great interview. We need more people like Dr. Krauss, to spread the beauty of Science and the magnificence of our universe. Looking forward to reading more about Richard Fyenman! Thanks for sharing!!!

  2. i wish i were intelligent enough to understand more than a fifth of this material…

    • Don”t worry – 95% is pretentious tripe!! The “professor” is lecturing us all about events which he missed by about 14 billion years. Wonderful arrogance, complacency, and hubris. Perhaps he can tell us how to create dollar bills from nothing?! People like this deserve a very large custard pie in the kisser as they spout this nonsense. Does any sane person actually believe that NOTHING produced EVERYTHING??!! And then these scientists ask religiously-minded people how God can have been around for ever. Students – pay no attention to this vain intellectual upstart. He needs not only a large custard pie in his smirking little gob, but also my boot applied to this fat ass!!! Hehe. Cheers, all.

      • Thank you Terence. It is people like you who prevented in the 90ies the construction of a new atom smasher in the US. Bad for science but very good for Europe where the LHC in Geneva was built. Thanks to people like you the capital of nuclear physics and basic research is in Switzerland.

  3. Dr Krauss delivers a fantastic lecture. Science pushes out the “shell of understanding ” for mankind. Long ago the shell of understanding only reached as far as the sky.
Navel contemplations (follow the logic sequence):
1.) We are made of elements found in the periodic chart….lets call it a sort of dirt….the so called dirt when arranged correctly can understand that it is dirt, thus the dirt understands the universe.
2.) To understand the universe humans should break away of thinking as a human. Try to teach a frog to type out the alphabet…..the frogs brain saturates at a much lower level of understanding….the same occurs when humans try to “picture” the universe at T=0seconds …only the language of math will work here.
3.) Maybe the universe is the SAME size as a quantum particle of another universe/time……it’s all a matter of reference…
    Space………
